Indian Summer....
Lovely fall leaves floating in the lake.
It won't be long before we will be draining the water and packing up the cottage for this year. If you want to spend some quiet lake time at the cottage, act fast. We will open it up again in May. We already have some reservations for next year so if you are planning on coming back or for your first stay please book early so you won't be disappointed.
You can see the sandy bottom and the shallowness of our shoreline.
One tree, many colours!!!

The Good Weather Continues into Late August.....
The hanging baskets were well looked after this summer by our guests!!! Thank you, well done!!!
The grape vines and hops are making their way up the new trellis. I'm thinking of adding a roof for them next summer but we may be a year or two early!!! The deck tends to be well shaded in the afternoons and is great place to sit and relax looking out over the water.
We spent last week at the cottage and again got to see the full moon shining on the lake. Hope you can get the feel of wonder from this pic.
We trimmed some of the shore bushes to give us more of an unobstructed view but the trick is, to leave enough to deter the water foul from coming to visit the cottage!!! Please remember not to feed the ducks etc. They have lots to eat in their natural environment.
Although the end of August is looming, it isn't too late to spend some time at The Barber's Cottage. Book it today. It is a lovely spot!!!

June at The Barber's Cottage 2013
Hope you can see the 4 baby Canada geese beside it's momma. The geese are back on the lake and looking good. This has been a wonderful month at the cottage. Very quiet and peaceful.
Right now the cottage is available for the long Canada Day weekend. Lots of space in July on the calendar but August is booking up. This is a great spot to be. Come and see for yourself!!!!

New This Spring at The Barber's Cottage
We just got home after spending three days at The Barber's Cottage. When we arrived on Wednesday there was quite a lot of ice still on the lake but 24 hours later, it was all gone.
The Barber's Cottage now has a gorgeous barber pole. Sure hope folks don't start dropping in for a shave and a hair cut!!!!
The loveseat, two chairs and coffee table are comfy and a great addition to the porch. Alfresco living and dining on the shores of beautiful Lake Bernard in sunny Sundridge.

After much thought and consideration, we are lowering our rates for 2013. It will now be $110 a night and $700 for a week. We need to get more people into this little gem to see how delightful a stay here can be!!!!! Wow, what a bargain!!!!!!!!

It is time to book your 2013 stay!!!
First I need to mention that the Ontario Northland train is not running any more. It went past the cottage twice a day during the afternoon. Now the only trains passing are approximately two freight trains.
The water is drained from the cottage so it is not available during the winter. We have had many inquiries about renting it monthly or to ice fishermen or snowmobilers. Sorry, we can't do that yet but we are thinking about it for the future.
I was thrilled to receive a barber's pole as a Christmas present and as soon as we get home, we are in the Bahamas for the winter, and get it up I will post a pic.
Our cottage is a little gem with a maximum occupancy of 4. Included in the rent are bikes, a gas barbeque, row boat, canoe, swimming with shallow water very suitable for small children, fishing, walking distance to the grocery store and downtown Sundridge.
Please book early so you aren't disappointed!!!!!
